=SUMPRODUCT(A2:A6, B2:B6) / SUM(B2:B6)

  • SUMPRODUCT(A2:A6, B2:B6): This part of the formula multiplies each value by its corresponding weight and then sums the results.
  • SUM(B2:B6): This part of the formula calculates the sum of the weights.
  • The division (/) then calculates the weighted average by dividing the weighted sum by the sum of the weights.


Important Considerations

  • Ensure that the ranges for the values and weights are the same length. Mismatched ranges will result in an error.
  • Avoid using negative or zero weights unless it is meaningful in your context, as they can distort the result.
  • Make sure all cells in the specified ranges contain numerical values to avoid calculation errors.
